Went A-Courtin'

Oh, it only took 12 months of blogging to get these two lawyers at a courthouse on the same day.

The Stanley Mosk Courthouse is a funny place: it is this massive 1940's-era nondescript edifice, its hallways telling stories of Los Angeles scandal and justice.  But outside, there's a Starbucks as busy as a nightclub, hot pink benches everywhere, and a legion of Tai Chi practitioners on the grassy knoll.  Although the photo doesn't quite capture Mosk's many facets, this may well be our most official entry to date because we are actually dressed for the part, steps away from our central courthouse.  And it begs the question, how come we're not always doing this?

I wore these pants last week, but it wound up in a partial selfie.  So per normal Rules of Fashion, it's OK to wear them again because no one saw them.  Other than that, it's my standard shirt + shell combo with black separates.  It was not easy wearing these layers, because LA suddenly decided to have 80-degree weather again.

A note on Paloma's bag - the greatest testament to fashion synergy is owning the same thing.  I instantly fell in love with Paloma's bag, then realized, oh yeah, I have the same one.  But it kinda looks so much better with her.  After the admiration, I was so relieved when I realized that I didn't have to go buy one myself.

First of all, I absolutely love that Karen and I were able to meet up at court for a coffee and a photo - though I'm shocked that this is the first time we've ever been able to do it.  Wish she could join me on all my court appearances! :)

Also, fun story about this bag.  Karen has the same one, and I've been obsessed with it since I first saw it, and told her so on the daily.  She basically said "This old thing? I've had it forever!"  Since I couldn't find it in stores currently, I did what any totally sane person would do and stalked eBay, even going so far to set up several saved searches, which meant I got emails anytime "Liz Claiborne messenger bag" or "Liz Claiborne briefcase" popped up.  And lo and behold, a few short years later... here it is!!!  And it's every bit as amazing as I had hoped.
